Terms of use

Folder Atelier X

Last updated: October 2026

Licence

If you acquire Folder Atelier X from the Mac App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (“Standard EULA”) applies. These terms supplement it; if they conflict, Apple’s agreement prevails.

Your designs

The icons and designs you create are yours. You may use them privately and commercially. You are responsible for content you add, such as pictures, texts or fonts, and need the rights to it.

SF Symbols, emoji and fonts

SF Symbols, Apple’s emoji and the system fonts come from Apple and are subject to Apple’s terms. Do not use them in logos, trademarks or app icons. For such purposes, use the built-in symbols, shapes and ornaments of Folder Atelier X.

Folder icons

The app sets icons through the official macOS interface and backs up existing custom icons so you can restore them. Custom icons are lost when folders are copied to storage without Mac metadata (for example some cloud services, zip archives or USB sticks). Please still back up your Mac regularly, for example with Time Machine.

Warranty and liability

We develop the app with care but cannot guarantee that it runs without errors on every system. We are liable for intent and gross negligence; otherwise liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Governing law

Swiss law applies, excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). Place of jurisdiction is Zurich. Mandatory consumer protection laws and places of jurisdiction of your country of residence remain reserved.

Licences

Syne typeface

The wordmark uses Syne. Copyright 2019 The Syne Project Authors (https://gitlab.com/bonjour-monde/fonderie/syne-typeface). Licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1. The full licence text ships with the app (Syne-OFL.txt).

Shapes, ornaments and colour schemes

The shapes and patterns from art and design history (orders of columns, meander, acanthus, tracery, Japanese patterns, Art Deco motifs and more) are original renderings of public-domain, traditional motifs. The palettes follow the materials and styles of each period and do not reproduce individual artworks.

Apple

SF Symbols, Apple Color Emoji and the system fonts are provided by macOS and are subject to Apple’s terms. They are not part of this app.

Other software

Folder Atelier X contains no other third-party software.
